It was all about Alison…….

this past week.

As promised, here are the photos.

National Honor Society recognition ceremony.
Where there is a piano, musicians will gather (interestingly, Alison had not met this classmate until after the Baccalaureate Service; Navarre High School is a rather large school.)

Secret meeting to make prayer flags.

Surprise!

Love these girls!

Goofy grandparents.
A red head, a blond and a brunette walk into a bar met in middle school and became best friends.

Goofy sister.

Stuck on the Pensacola Bay bridge for an hour; oh well, mustn't miss a photo op.
One more cookie making session with Grandma before everyone goes their separate ways.
Yes, we are very proud grandparents! Alison plans to study Marine Biology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. (GPS is already programed.)

Having mastered the trumpet in high school, Alison is often asked to play taps at various events. Honoring her dad and other fallen troops, she played at the Memorial Day Ceremony at Navarre Park.

With an abundant amount of pride and love in our hearts, we leave Navarre Beach. The Wanderer is pointed toward the Dakotas.  Over the next few months, we will be on an adventure which means we may have sketchy internet at times. If you do not see a post that could mean we do not have internet, we are too busy to update, it may not be interesting enough to post or perhaps we have driven off the grid.

Before we leave………..

We are pleased to announce, three J.Darin Loftis MemorialScholarships were awarded to Calloway County High School Seniors!
Lindsey Wagner, Griffin Sheridan and Lauren Wagner

Our (current) Neighborhood

Nestled among tents, cabins, pop-ups, 5th-wheels, big Class As, and small Teardrops, The Wanderer is enjoying a diversity of campers.

Beachy colored cabins, (For those that have asked about the cabin rental, here is a link)

with clever names,

whimsical art,

meticulously clean (we see the staff riding around all day in these cute little carts, cleaning and maintaining the grounds,)

friendly staff, air conditioned fitness room (perfect for ABN to practice yoga and strengthing exercises) and conveniently located only a couple of miles from the girls’ home, the Navarre BeachCampground has been the perfect spot to spend the past two weeks. Last spring we spent the month of March here so we knew it would be a fit for us. A welcome surprise this visit was the upgrade to the campground wifi.

We could hardly be in Navarre without seeing Camille perform. We are very proud of our ballerina and want to share with you a video of her performance at the Northwest Florida Ballet end of the year demonstration.

Graduation is tomorrow; it has been so much fun being a part of all the festivities. Beware; there will be a lot of photos to share!

Hello from Navarre Beach

where The Wanderer is parked at Navarre Beach Campground

about two miles from our daughter-in-law and granddaughters' home.

A busy week it has been with pre-graduation events for our oldest granddaughter, Alison, who will graduate from high school next Saturday. After the National Honor Society recognition ceremony and Awards Ceremony, we were given a pass on the Band Award’s program. But we will be attending Baccalaureate Service on Monday evening; and, of course, graduation. And, yes, there will be photos!

Little sister, Camille, recently turned Sweet 16,

so we celebrated at the Slippery Mermaid Sushi Bar.

Wherever we are, if Aggies are in the vicinity, we will find them (especially if they are College Station grown.) We found Mike and Valerie Thompson at Vin’tij Wine Boutique in Destin (which we highly recommend for wonderful fresh seafood and excellent wine choices)

Mike graduated from A&M Consolidated High School a year after Captain; Valerie a few years later.  You may be familiar with their Thompson 31Fifty Pinot Noir wine out of Sonoma (If not, you should be if you enjoy a fine Pinot.)

We ended the week at Juana’s,

where we enjoyed the eclectic music of Coconut Radio.

In spite of the heat, humidity and storms, it is a great time to be in the Florida panhandle.

Quilt Week 2017 is now a memory.

Quilt Week in Quilt City USA is a big event when our little city more than doubles its population.(That would be more than 30,000 mostly ladies in town for the week.)  For the past ten years we have opened our home to quilters from various places throughout the country. This year it was a pleasure to host quilter's from Captain's hometown (also known as Aggieland.) They arrived during Tipsy Tuesday

surprising us with a beautiful Quilt of Valor in honor and memory of ABN's son,  Lt Col J. Darin Loftis, KIA in Afghanistan in 2012.

For four days the quilters shopped, looked at award winning quilts, shopped, attended classes and shopped. Each evening we had show and tell.

Captain's long time friend and classmate, Linda, took some time-out to catch up.

Captain took the ladies to Taste of Kentucky at our church
where they sampled pulled pork, the best potato salad in Kentucky, green beans (of course) and Derby Pie. (ABN was one of the volunteers for the fund raiser with the proceeds going to our local Boys and Girls Club.)

All too soon, it was time to say good-bye. With credit cards well worn and car fully loaded,

they returned to College Station.

And we are turning our attention to our next road adventure.
