We have had a most delightful 3-4 days at the beautiful
mountain home of our dear friends, Kathy and Jesse, near Lenoir, North
Carolina. From our room we woke to this view every morning.
As the sun rose, we could take in the view from the porch
that stretches along the north and west side of the house.
Most often the porch is where we sipped wine and dined.
(If
you know Jesse and Kathy, you know that was a treat!)
Western North Carolina was created for exploring and our
hosts were gracious to show us their favorite finds. Jesse took us around the
neighborhood in his “Bear” (ATV).
Saturday found us at the Lenoir Sculpture Celebration and
Best of Show, ceramic balls in creek |
a walking tour of Morganton during the Historic Morganton Festival followed with a fabulous dinner at the Vine and Root restaurant.
Sunday afternoon we took a short hike up to Linville Falls
and then chilled out at the Linville Falls Winery listening to mountain music.
Boomer joined us for our Sunday outing and got an over
the top amount of attention (which he didn’t seem to mind.)
Monday was a shopping day. ABN loved the shops in Blowing
Rock (sorry,
no photos of this pretty little town, too busy shopping.)
We loved exploring this area of North Carolina but what
fed our souls mostly was hanging out with our dear friends, catching up, reminiscing,
discussing, bantering and playing dominoes.
A beautiful end to a beautiful time,
we must continue our journey to Texas.
