"Want to go to the Quilt Show?" said Captain?

“Whaaat?” Said ABN

“Yeah,” said Captain. “I have never been.”

So, we went to the Quilt Show.

For you non-quilters, this is a BIG EVENT that brings over 30,000 folks (mostly women) from all the states in our union, as well as from other countries, to our town of about 26,000. Now these quilts are not your grandmother’s quilts. These are pieces of art. As you scroll through our photos, keep in mind these are pieces of fabric carefully stitched to create the design. As you will see, there are a variety of styles from

funky,

 to traditional,

 to picturesque,

Some of you who have visited in Paducah may remember seeing Caryl Bryer Fallert-Gentry's work. She is a former Paducah Textile Artist now living in Port Townsend, WA.

to fine art,

And we must share two entries from Ukraine.

Loved the colors and texture

Tonopah, we recognized it immediately as we stayed in this little town in the "middle of nowhere" in Nevada

Incredible art to say the least.

BTW, Linda Cooper and Shauna Brewer, we have two “Show Books” we will bring to you when we come to Texas next month.

  1. Chris, THanks so much for posting these pictures! I was so busy at the Mancuso Show in Greenville, I hardly had my camera out. QuiltfestGreenvilleSC's inagural show I would say was a success. Nothing like the size of Paduacah but oh, what potential!!
Next year it will not conflict with Paducah. Who knows, one of these days, maybe you would like to come our way for a show.
FYI..There are new breweries opening closer to us.......
